Biographical
I am a lawyer/mediator with over 30 years of experience. My current work load is equally divided between civil litigation and mediation. I completed my arbitrator training in 2019 and am a qualified arbitrator. I have just started holding arbitrations.
Since my call to the Law Society of BC bar in 1988, I have been practising as a litigator other than a brief period where I was provided legal services to a corporate records office in Barbados. Initially, I practised with Killam Whitelaw & Twining in Vancouver until 1992. Subsequently, I moved back to Vancouver Island and worked at Heath & Company in Nanaimo until 2001. After that I joined MacMinn & Company in Victoria. In August 2005, I left MacMinn to start my own mediation/litigation practice. Since 2009, I have also provided part-time contract legal services to Christopher Considine QC in a variety of practice areas. After my mediation training in 1995, I started acting as a mediator in disputes.
The areas in which I mediate are personal injury disputes and cases involving property damage, insurance coverage, commercial disputes, real estate transactions, joint venture agreements, wrongful dismissal, wills variation, defamation and historical sexual assault. I have been a mediator in approximately a thousand matters to date.
In the summer of 2019, I completed arbitration training through ADRIC and Royal Roads and hold a QArb designation with ADRIC and have completed a documents only arbitration respecting a vehicle valuation in an insurance matter.
